Walter Karl Friedrich Assmann〔In German a Doctor of Medical Dentistry is abbreviated as Dr. med. dent. (''Doctor medicinae dentariae'').〕 (22 July 1896 – 1 May 1964) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the 101. Jäger Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
